In-Game Q&A Session July 7th in tRO2's amatsu (七夕　Tanabata）

Tuesday, July 7th at 6:00pm to 7:30pm EDT.

Since we are at the eve of tRO2's passing, and it's about to be 4th anniversary of it's launch. There has been very little information at present passed on to the public. So this year I've decided yet again to hold a Tanabata festival, only this time it will mostly a boring old Q&A session.


I will be unless something important IRL happens (I will mention it in this thread at least one hour before the time.) I will be in front on the big tree in amatsu from 6PM EDT to 7:30PM EDT.


I will say the following will be in effect:
*I will not respond to any Personal Messages during that time. If you have any at the time PM me on this board after the session. I'll be happy to answer them one on one. (Or it would be faster to say them in public and I'll try to respond) ;))
*If we have a lot of people there I may not answer your question the first time you ask. Please ask it again after 5 or so minutes. (Thanks!)
*I will not answer non-constructive questions. (IE: tRO sucks, This GM sucks, etc. [You can ask good comparative questions like: "?RO has cool feature Y, Do you have a similar feature planned?])
*I may have to leave exactly at 7:30pm. If that is the case and there is a big enough session I may plan another one soon.

As some of you may or may not know we are in the process of rebuilding tRO from the ground up. For the short term I don't have many details to share. However I can share some so you all are not out in the cold

1. tRO will now finally share with a kRO install so it's no longer 4 gigs big. Also it has the benefit of running next to each other. I've already setup the custom music to run from it's own directory thus leaving other RO servers unaffected by it.

2. It will take a little time as we've got a three step process planned.
a. Examine our current archive and extract the content we choose to keep.
b. Rebuild most of the existing tRO client side and server side stuff.
c. Implement any new features.

3. There will probably be a 2 week limited test period in which the sever will be on hyperdrive and we'll hopefully squash most of the bugs that may come up.

Other than that all I can ask is a little patience. The tRO2 (aka super happy fun time shop server) will not shut off until tRO3 is a go, just in case anyone wants to still play it.


If you have any questions feel free to ask in this thread and I'll try to answer them. A lot I won't be able to answer due to the fact we want to keep some elements a surprise, or we've just not developed it enough to give you a good answer. Please bare with us on that as well.


Please tell everyone who's played or has an interest in tRO to read this thread. I have a somewhat busy schedule so I won't be checking every day but I will defiantly be watching this thread.

  • Changed Drifinox and Infernox cards. Both sacrifice 16% of HP or SP, to raise 8% of the opposite now.
  • Added a custom cookbook for custom food recipes.

    poster: blackhole89    		 The server will have to undergo forced downtime for a while. With the machine rebooting every other 4 or 5 minutes, running it becomes practically impossible; investigations as to the reasons are underway. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. >_>

    Sprite/monster update

    poster: blackhole89    		 The sprite table loading hack has been rewritten from scratch, allowing for a considerably larger number of entries than before.
    Accordingly, a full update to the current kRO 'state-of-the-art' regarding NPCs and monsters has been done, enabling, among others, the Rachel-area NPCs to be less innuendo-laden and the WoE 2.0 objects showing up properly (their actual usage, however, still is a matter of getting the right scripts in), as well as a couple of areas finally pending public access. (Thanks to Ailure for doing the grindsome NPC listing work~)
